Can't Install nvm on wsl

It's been 3 hours that I'm looking on all the forums how to fix this error, I've already tried many things but I can't find the solution.

I figured that I couldn't ping anything and the reason for that was badly configured resolv.conf file .
I removed the nameserver that was there and added nameserver 8.8.8.8 and nameserver 8.8.4.4
I also had to add wsl.conf to prevent WSL from autogenerating the resolv.conf file every time.

I think y'all should be able to find some solution here. There could be multiple issues and there's no issue with NVM I believe in this case, the issue is with your WSL network being unable to connect to GitHub directly. Could be firewall, security, or multiple things mentioned in these two discussions.

I tried everything above and on the other related topic but nothing worked for me.

After hours, in the end I was ready to give up but I found this solution and it worked perfectly.

Looks like changing to WSL 1 is the way to go.

The issue is usually your antivirus or your vpn.
If you disable them WSL2 should work fine.

I switched my antivirus off and now I can work on WSL2.
No need to switch to WSL1 anymore.

This is a network resolution problem, which can be solved by configuring hosts.

I used another way：

1. visit https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm-sh/nvm/v0.39.1/install.sh, save it as "install.sh" file
2. bash install.shin WSL command. install.sh. You can install nvm directly without Curl command.

you can try running this

sudo rm /etc/resolv.conf
sudo bash -c 'echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf'
sudo bash -c 'echo "[network]" > /etc/wsl.conf'
sudo bash -c 'echo "generateResolvConf = false" >> /etc/wsl.conf'
sudo chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf

it deletes your resolve.config file thats automatically generated when u run WSL then creates a new file and puts "nameserver 8.8.8.8", then creates a wsl.conf file and adds [network] and generateResolveConf = false to prevent auto generation of that file

you can also run

cat /etc/resolv.conf

to check the contents of the file

Hey I live in India and use the Jio Network provider. The commands don't seem to be working and even WSL is unable to be installed. I used a VPN and then tried running the command. It worked for me.
