How to become a Defi Quant ? #91
-
I feel like for me diving into AAVE creates a lot of confusion because I know so little about finance in general. Of course you might say, skip that part and move onto NFTs but finances is something I really want to get good at..to the level at which I can create my own flash loan attacks (for educational purposes only). As of now I don't know anything about money. How do I become a successful defi quant. I got some decent math though : ) Thanks in advacne. |

You become a defi quant by continuing to learn and grow and build and work with defi protocols :) And yes, you will have to learn finance stuff! |

Becoming a DeFi Quant (Decentralized Finance Quantitative Analyst) involves blending skills from traditional finance, programming, and blockchain technology. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you on this path:
Study DeFi-specific mechanisms: yield farming, liquidity pools, AMMs (like Uniswap), staking, impermanent loss, etc.
Solidity: Needed for smart contract auditing and strategy implementation. Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust, or Vyper is also useful for working with different DeFi protocols.
Track on-chain data with platforms like Dune Analytics, Nansen, or DeBank.
Simulate and backtest strategies with tools like Brownie, Hardhat, or Foundry. Learn MEV (Miner Extractable Value) concepts for high-level trading opportunities.
Consider internships, bounties, or hackathons in the DeFi space to build experience and visibility.
Monitor whitepapers and new releases on GitHub. Final Tip: A DeFi Quant thrives at the intersection of code, crypto, and capital. If you're already solid in two of those, double down on the third.
