All the formats! #27

Description

@kwinkunks

gio's job is 'subsurface / industrial data formats' for things like maps and surfaces... things that won't be covered by the likes of pandas, rasterio, xarray-spatial (don't think this has data loaders?), and things like OSDU. Complementary to segysak, welly, and similar.

So we need to collect examples of files, or specifications (lol).

Things to look for:

  • IRAP, see this small example or possibly something from whatever xtgeo uses.
  • Geographix, eg see this
  • Halliburton DecisionSpace 'Landmark all' horizons, see this
  • I think SeisWorks also had HZD and HZT (tiles) formats? Binary, I'm guessing. Maybe there are readers in OSDU?
  • Don't know what Petrel has, but it exports to IESX.
  • See 'Final horizons' and 'Final horizons GX2' here -- I think GX2 is a modeling tool?
  • SMT Kingdom, eg see this
  • DUG, maybe? Not sure they have one.
  • SeisWare?
