RepositoryItemReader currentItemCount is ignored (page starts at 0) when SaveState is set to false.

this behaviour seems very wrong to me.
just because batch doesnt need to saveState doesnt mean I want to begin at page 0 for every run.

This isn't something the RepositoryItemReader does...it's something all item counting readers do (any ItemReader implementation that extends AbstractItemCountingItemStreamItemReader as the RepositoryItemReader does). We do this because currentItemCount is the representation of the state for that reader. Do you have a use case you can describe that illustrates where you would like to start on another page (and how you would expect that behavior to work)?
