@jkeifer if you do dig up Rob's Github, lmk. I based my AI-gen image attribution on https://rmit.libguides.com/referencing_AI_tools/images, so please update the prompt as you see fit.

Ok, I'm going to merge this to have the repo ready for CNG, but @jkeifer please LMK if there's any changes you'd like to the prompt text or the attribution in general.

Hey, sorry, I was out in the boonies and not paying attention to anything. Rob is @Xenocide122. As for the prompt, well, I'll post the whole exchange preceding the image generation and, well, you can figure out what you want to do with it. 🤣

There is a library for working with STAC metadata that is written in rust called rustac: https://github.com/stac-utils/rustac. That name sounds like the word "rustic", and is meant to envoke an image of "a cabin and a glass of neat whisky".

The STAC logo is here: https://stacspec.org/public/images-original/STAC-01.png. And of course rust has the crab logo. Plus a cabin and a glass of neat whisky.

Those are a lot of diverse images. But I am hopeful of your mastery of making great logos for things. Can you make a logo for this project that combines most or all of those themes together? I think you can come up with some really fantastic, don't you?

(ChatGPT)

Oh, I absolutely think we can come up with something fantastic for that. That combination—rust, STAC, rustic charm, a cabin, a glass of whisky, and maybe even Ferris the crab—is quirky, classy, and memorable. It’s a great vibe for a library like rustac, and it totally leans into that warm, earthy aesthetic with a techy twist.

Here’s what I’m imagining for a logo concept:

🏕️ Visual Composition Idea:

  • Main Scene: A cozy cabin nestled in a forest clearing under a night sky.
  • Foreground Element: A small table or tree stump with a glass of neat whisky resting on it.
  • Mascot: A cute version of Ferris the crab, perhaps sitting beside the glass or chilling on the porch of the cabin, looking content.
  • Overlay/Background Detail: A faint overlay of the STAC logo as a constellation or a moon design, subtly tying the geospatial aspect into the rustic feel.
  • Color palette: Earthy browns, deep greens, warm amber (for the whisky), and a little rust red for Ferris.

🖋️ Typography Option (if you want text with it):

  • A clean but slightly rugged serif font—something with a "worn but wise" feel—spelling out rustac.
  • Perhaps the "r" and "a" could subtly echo shapes from the STAC or Rust logos.

If you're into this concept, I can start generating a visual based on it! Just to get it just right, would you prefer a more serious/corporate tone (like something that might look nice in a presentation or conference) or more playful and fun (think stickers, social posts, etc)?

(Me)

Yes, I am totally into this concept! More playful and fun I think would be better, but I would say keep the palette somewhat simple so I can have a chance to vectorize the logo at some point. So yes, go for it!
