Followed the setup instuctions as above, "make build-manifest",
but got error: No rule to make target 'build-manifest';

Strange, why cannot find build-manifest in makefile?

@conquerorAlex thanks for reporting. Like @ExplorerRay pointed build-manifests don't exist anymore but you can find sample manifests under - https://github.com/sustainable-computing-io/kepler/tree/main/manifests/k8s

What is the relationship between sustainable-computing-io/kepler-helm-chart with this stuff?

Aren't they meant for the same purpose (Use helm to install Kepler)?

The problem this is trying to solve are

• keep helm charts in sync with kepler
• have an artifact you can install with every release

Keeping it a separate repo makes it hard to force contributors to keep the manifests in sync.

so if this mechanism works fine, we can archive / freeze the helm-chart repo and works until 0.9.0 version.

I need to say that helm repo really makes the whole install process much easier.

Why helm-chart repo needs to be archived? Could you just mark another tag or release for it?

Because I don't use helm, could you please help me understand how having a separate repo for hell chart makes the install process easier?

I only need to install helm with a configured kubectl for the cluster. Then I can follow the instructions in the doc.
When I want to change some settings, I can revise values.yaml and run helm upgrade for it.

I think this part is like make deploy in Makefile, but values.yaml cab define a lot of customization. I am not sure whether they can be done in the Makefile?

By the way, I want to check another thing. Do I need to install Go or Docker for make deploy in Makefile?

We could helm repo add kepler https://sustainable-computing-io.github.io/kepler
but that needs to figured. The important bit is that when #2220 merges, we will produce a helm package for every release we make
