STEP file reading is crashing VSCode

I am trying to read the assembly structure from a multi-level assembly STEP file.
The below-mentioned line is causing the VSCode server to disconnect.
I am using OCC version: 7.8.1

doc = TDocStd_Document(TCollection_ExtendedString("STEP"))

@tpaviot - Can you please help fix this issue?
