Testing core features that use node expressions

The test in #408 raises a general point.

# Only using an IRI Expression here because Core doesn't define interesting node expressions

Does this mean there should be:

1. tests in the test suite that do include interesting node expressions, with labelling in the manifest section so a core-only system would skip them.
2. a separate node-expressions test suite which would include additional core feature tests
