XMapTools 4.5 beta 1
This is the first beta release of XMapTools 4.5. It is a developer version, but it should be quite stable and has been extensively tested.
Major change
Please note that the installation and update procedures for XMapTools 4.5 have changed and the binaries are compatible with MATLAB Runtime 25.1. The complete installation procedure is described here: https://xmaptools.ch/install-update/. You must install the compatible version of the Runtime using the XMapTools installer. Older versions of the Runtime (e.g. v911) can be deleted (procedure: https://xmaptools.ch/install-update/).
Warning: If you want to install XMapTools directly from the installer file on macOS, you need to remove the quarantine flag from the unzipped file to avoid the error message "XMapToolsInstaller_macOS.app is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin". Open a Terminal window, type "xattr -c " and drag the installer file into the window before pressing Return.
Compatibility
- MacOS: Not compatible with Intel processors. Requires MacOS Sequoia (15), Sonoma (14), or Ventura (13).
- MacOS_Intel: Not compatible with Apple silicon processors. Requires MacOS Sequoia (15), Sonoma (14) or Ventura (13).
- Windows: Requires Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Note for MacOS users
The compiled version of XMapTools 4.4, installed with the XMapToolsInstaller_macOS_AppleSilicon_2025.app installer, runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs with MATLAB Runtime 24.3, resulting in a significant performance gain. However, this version of XMapTools 4.4 compatible with the M-Series chip is limited to MacOS Ventura (13), Sonoma (14) and Sequoia (15). The previous MATLAB runtime version v912 can be removed after upgrading to XMapTools 4.4 if this version is used.
A non-native version of XMapTools 4.4. beta 2 can be still installed using the XMapToolsInstaller_macOS_AppleSilicon.app installer. When the final version 4.4 is released, this version may no longer be available.
